Long Pond Walking Trail Phase 2

Phase 2 of the Long Pond Walking Trail funding has been approved.

Total project estimated cost: $484,292.00

60% Provincial Contribution: $290,575.00

40% Municipal Contribution: $193,717.00

 

A Capital Investment Plan (CIP) has also been approved to cover the Town's contribution in the amount of $193,717.00.

 

By utilizing these two funding opportunities it has enabled the Town to plan and complete Phase 2 without the use of any substantial 'out-of-pocket' money. 

 

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Long Pond Walking Trail Phase 2 Project consists of constructing 1.5 kms of walking trail at Long Pond. The scope of the project includes construction of granular walking trail with the water conservation area around Long Pond. The project aims to extend the existing 2.5 kms of trail for an additional 1.5 kms effectively closing the loop of the trail.  The project will provide a safe walking area for residents and promotes healthy living and active lifestyle.

Northside Road Costal Erosion and Road Upgrades

The Northside Road Coastal Erosion and Road Upgrade Project funding has been approved.

Total project estimated cost: $1,840,875.00

50% Provincial Contribution: $920,437.00

40% Federal Contribution: $736,350.00

10% Municipal Contribution: $184,088.00

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Northside Road Coastal Erosion and Road Upgrade Project consists of replacing and improving the structural stability of Northside Road. The scope of is to remove existing 300m bin and creosote timber retaining wall and install a new MSE retaining wall; supply and install new MSE retaining for approx. 50m in the "Bread and Cheese" area; supply and installation of new 1500mm CSP culvert to replace the existing culvert. The project aims to improve stability the current roadside / coastal erosion and improve the structural stability of the road structure; it will improve the storm water management in these areas and improve driving surface.
